LOCAL AGENT ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION (LAADR):
Training Local Populations in Post-Conflict Countries
This program develops Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) skills in local populations in Post-Conflict Countries (PCC). The central focus is to strengthen societal capacities to deal with every day conflict situations. In PCCs there is a great need to develop deeper ADR reserves in order to climb out of societal conflict patterns that were created through recent intrastate conflicts. This program trains the future leaders in conflict transformation through the building of ADR practitioners among local stakeholders. This program is typically one week in length. The program focuses on the following principles:
- Train local students, professionals and civil servants in ADR principles.
- Strengthen societal capacities in dealing with conflict locally.
- Coordinate the implementation of a local ADR practitioner's center to diminish communal conflict patterns.
- Create communication avenues between trainees and local stakeholders to increase the effective use of ADR principles.
